My old bio ego splurge is back:-

I am Malk, some stuff about me:-

I am an alternative person. Not a goth, although definitely alternative. I often describe myself as a metal head but I don't quite fully fit the stereotype for that either. My musical tastes are pretty much those of a metal-head who also like a bit of (metalish) goth and industrial. I sometimes admit to liking folk music, esp. the Corries.

I am a devout atheist. I dislike organised religion, so much so I am considering starting one.

I am sometimes a nerd, sometimes a geek, often both, sometimes neither.

I play games. Many games. All different types of games. Even backgammon. But not monopoly, 'cos it's rubbish. Wargames, Boardgames, CCGs, RPGs, FPS, RTS and chess. Oh, and a bit of poker too. I used to play MMOs, and recently have started again. I play many types of Star Wars games including the classic trilogy Trivial Pursuit (which I often win.)

I love movies. Favourites include but are not limited to : Star Wars Trilogy, Flash Gordon, Watership Down, Bladerunner, Excalibur, Easy Rider, Time Bandits, Reign of Fire, Titan AE, Labyrinth, Erik the Viking, Fight Club and V for Vendetta.

I have a Star Wars tattoo and I'm thinking of getting more.

I dislike the vast majority of TV.

I work in satellite TV broadcasting. I get to work shifts which sometimes really sucks but most of the time means I get three weekends every two weeks (ha!) and I get to be nocturnal for a fortnight roughly every three months. Consequently I love my job.

I am a scientist. This is a philosophy and represents my outlook on life and how it should be lived, it does not mean I am cold, heartless, calculating or inhuman. It means I have an outlook based principally on facts. However, much like my hero Machiavelli, my strict adherence to accepting the facts over what "should" be true often makes me appear cold, heartless and inhuman which is sometimes a source of unhappiness for me as I am not any of those things but simply cannot be any other way and still respect myself.

I am intelligent enough to know I am potentially a great underachiever. I wish I were either a fair bit more intelligent than actually I am, or just a little less so.

Tragically I am also interested in current affairs. This usually makes me quite unhappy and is another thing about myself I wish I could change. I usually try to avoid it by playing games, watching movies or attending events at which I can drink lots of my favourite drink : Jack Daniels and Dr. Pepper and talking bollocks about anything other than current affairs.

Politically I am mostly cynical and apathetic as above, but when involved I am mostly liberal with socialist sympathies and a dash of fascism but without the racism or nationalism 'cos they are such ridiculously stupid notions. Ugh, maybe I'll do a political post sometime to explain or at least start to explain. I'm sure it sounds like I make no sense.

This is just my LJ, not my life. I hope I don't take it too seriously, I'd like to think that occasionally at least it is amusing to somebody even if it's just me. With that in mind (at this time at least) I have no policies regarding "friending", I friend blogs I wanna track because of mutual interests or because I find it at least sometimes interesting, anyone may friend me for the same or any reason - it's (mostly) all public anyway.
